ELEMENTARY EQUITY PROJECT
This is an exciting year as Elementary Parent Groups (PTAs, PTOs, etc) have come together with a shared desire to start addressing equity issues within the 14 schools.
Some parent groups raise funds more easily than others which result in some schools having access to after-school programming, fields trips, and teacher stipends. Other schools have limited access to these important opportunities and resources.
The “Elementary Equity Project” invites all parent groups to continue fundraising (jog-a-thons, auctions, etc) and then share 10% to an "equity fund.” Funds will be shared with all participating parent groups based on the number of students receiving free and reduced lunch. This project acknowledges that each school has children in need and puts a greater emphasis on the schools with higher needs.
