Healthy Tech Family Potluck

Tuesday, March 24, 2026

6:00-7:30 p.m.

Happy Valley Cafeteria

Topic: Let Grow - Increasing Opportunities for Independence and Skill Building

Join us for our monthly potluck to connect with other families who are learning to navigate all the questions, concerns and possibilities that technology brings. Bring a dish to share, and come even if you can't! Bring the whole family! Kids are welcome to join the conversation, or use provided card/board games and arts and crafts supplies.

All are welcome! New to this topic? Welcome! Read all the books (and maybe even wrote one)? Welcome! Can't come every time? No problem!

Over the course of our potlucks, we'll discuss questions like: Should I give my kid a phone? Are video games safe? What's the right amount of screentime? How is technology used in the classroom?

Resources

Wait Until 8th

Wait until 8th has a pledge that you can sign saying you will wait until the end of 8th grade before giving your child a smartphone. Once 10 families from your grade at HV have signed up, the pledge is “activated” and you’ll be able to see which families in your grade have also signed the pledge. This makes it easier to connect and support one another! We would love to see every grade/cohort at Happy Valley with an activated Wait Until 8th pledge.
